- Most of the jobs are relatively unskilled but hard to come by. People tend to stay in the jobs for a long time. Just keep bugging them to apply and eventually they will let you.
- Living in Chicago you have one of the best options out there, the Siebel Institute which is more or less the Harvard of brewing schools. I believe the Siebel Institute used to/does do some course work out of the Clybourn location of Goose Island though so I'm not sure how that's changed the nature of the school since Goose Island is supposedly closing that location. Siebel Institute: http://www.siebelinstitute.com/ Aside from getting a formal education in brewing you basically get a brewing job like you would any other job, ask around and apply. In the case of brewing it helps to know people due to the low turnover and the overall friends and family nature of the industry but a little bit of good old fashioned hustle isn't going to hurt. Another good site for professional brewing... http://www.probrewer.com/
- I was going to suggest Siebel...but Alesmith beat me to it. If you are just looking to get a job and not be a master brewer just apply at Goose Island or Two Brothers. Here is TB's job postings link. http://www.twobrosbrew.com/job_openings.htm
- Wake up early shower get in car drive to local brewery fill out application
