Nov Trends

In terms of electron configuration, what are the trends of the periodic table?

I need trend explained in terms of electron configuration. The trend for atomic radius across the periodic table from left to right and down a group. Same thing for ionization energy and electronegativity. I get most of the trends, but this one is really confusing. I dunno, maybe its the wording.

  1. All I know is that going down the row, they all have the same sort of properties. I think the ones to the right are man made and unstable
  2. when elements move across a period, the change in trend are as follows: 1) its atomic radius decreases as it moves across the period 2) the electronegativity increases 3) no.of protons and electrons increases 4) oxides of elements changes from basic to amphoteric and then to acidic 5) it changes from metal to metalloid (semi metal) to non metal 6) elcetropositivity decreases For changes down the group, it depends on whcih group u r talking about. for example group 1-- the melting and boling point decreases down the group but it's the opposite for group 17. the reactivity increases down the group for group 1 elements but is the opposite for group 17 elements
  3. on the periodic table the, when going across you have to count it as s1,s2,p1 and so on you count untill you get to element you want bottom of thiis web page theres a picture to help you out
